Thanks to folks from WCMesh, much of the forest has reception of this free, unlicensed, peer-to-peer messaging platform. The front country through Chilao benefits from repeaters all throughout the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys, while the backside reaches many repeaters down in the Antelope Valley. Repeaters at Mt. Wilson Observatory, Mt. Waterman, Glendora Mountain Road, Wrightwood, Table Mountain and others help fill in some gaps. Of course areas with no coverage at all certainly still exist

This small new project aims to help you stay situationally aware when recreating in Angeles NF. It's a new integration that selects certain data from our existing data bus and sends it into a new MeshCore channel, #anf-incidents

Examples

• WILDFIRE: Chantry, ANF-4259
• CHANTRY FLATS TRK TR/N SANTA ANITA CANYON RD, ANGELES FOREST
• 34.19557,-118.02339

• MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Veh. OTS, ANF-4243
• E BLUE RIDGE RD/N ANGELES CREST HWY

Conveniently, the MeshCore app makes the geo-coordinates tappable to copy or open in your device's maps app

Incident Types That Result in Alerts

Wildfire with at least one assigned resource. (Without that additional logic check, many false alerts would go out since Wildfire is Angeles dispatch's default incident type)
Also: Aircraft Accident, Debris Fire, Emergency Stabilization, Law Enforcement, Medical Aid, Motor Vehicle Accident, Prescribed Fire, Smoke Check, Structure Fire, Vehicle Fire, Wildland Search/Rescue/Recovery

But not: Aircraft (administrative records), False Alarm, Fire Rehabilitation, Out of Area Response, Preparedness/Preposition, Proficiency & Currency Event
