Apps: Privacy Policy

← Back to App Overview

Effective Date: May 8, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how our iOS apps — currently Angeles Intel. and ShoutPLEX ("the Apps", "we", "us", "our") — handle information when you use them. We built these apps with privacy as a core principle, and we want this policy to be simple enough that you can actually read it.

In an age where tracking has been taken to creepy extremes, we are aiming to be as minimalistic as possible - collecting only data deemed critical to monitor app crashes, performance, and what features people actually use in order to guide financially-efficient operations.

1. The short version

The Apps contain:

  • No third-party advertising or tracking SDKs
  • Anonymized usage analytics via TelemetryDeck (details in §4) and Apple's anonymized crash reporting
  • No advertisements
  • No in-app purchases
  • No data collection by us — with three narrowly-scoped exceptions, all for Angeles Intel. only (the first two opt-in, the third tied to legal compliance):
    • Agency-verified email addresses, used only to confirm .gov affiliation and unlock the Admin Net audio stream
    • Apple Push Notification device tokens, used only to deliver alert pushes you've opted into
    • Terms of Use acceptance receipts, used only as the legal artifact for which version of the Terms you agreed to

Details on those three exceptions are below.

2. Things stored on your device

If you use the Broadcastify integration in ShoutPLEX, your Broadcastify login is saved on your device only — the same way iOS stores any app's settings. We never see those credentials. They're transmitted only to Broadcastify's own servers, over HTTPS, when you sign in.

You can delete them at any time inside the App, or by uninstalling the App.

3. Things stored on our servers (Angeles Intel. only)

There are three pieces of information we store on our servers. The first two are tied to opt-in features; the third is the legal record of your agreement to our Terms of Use:

Agency-verified email address. If you verify with a .gov email to access the Admin Net audio stream, we store your email address. We use it only to remember that your account is verified. We do not share or sell it. We may use it to get in touch if we notice you're having trouble, like a large volume of failed login attempts. While verifying your email address via app, a short-lived one-time code is emailed to you and held briefly on our side — it expires within 10 minutes and is deleted as soon as it's used.

Apple Push Notification device token. If you opt into push alerts (e.g. wildfire-tone notifications), we store your device's APN token along with the alert categories you've subscribed to. The token is used solely to deliver the alerts you asked for. It contains no user-identifying information.

Terms of Use acceptance receipts. When you tap "I agree" on a new Terms of Use, we record a server-side receipt confirming your acceptance was registered. Each receipt includes: an anonymous per-install device identifier (Apple's identifierForVendor, unique to your install of this app and not linked to your name or email), the app version, a hash of the agreement text you accepted, your iOS version and device model, your locale, your IP address (captured from the request), and timestamps for first acceptance and most recent app launch. We use these only to demonstrate, if asked, which version of our Terms each user accepted. They are not joined to your name, email, or any other personal identifier.

4. Anonymized usage analytics

We use TelemetryDeck to understand how the Apps are used in aggregate — which features people open, which audio streams get played, what device classes the Apps run on. TelemetryDeck is a privacy-first analytics service:

  • We send only anonymous events (for example, "audio stream started" or "section navigated") — never with any user identifier attached
  • TelemetryDeck does not retain IP addresses; they're stripped before storage
  • Signals can't be tied back to a specific user, even by us

This data informs what we build next, what we fix, and which devices the Apps need to perform well on — without learning anything about you specifically. TelemetryDeck's full privacy approach is at https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy/.

5. Network connections

The Apps connect directly to the audio sources and data feeds you select. These connections:

  • Are made directly from your device to the source
  • Use standard internet protocols (HTTP/HTTPS)
  • Don't pass through any general-purpose proxy we operate

The sources differ by app:

  • Angeles Intel. connects to our hosted Icecast streams (Forest Net, Admin Net) and to public data feeds like the National Weather Service for fire-weather information.
  • ShoutPLEX connects to SHOUTcast, Icecast, and Broadcastify streams of your choice.

Your IP address is visible to whatever service you're streaming from, the same as with any other internet connection. We don't control those services' privacy practices, so review their policies if that matters to you.

6. Data retention and deletion

  • Agency-verified email addresses are kept until you ask us to remove them. Email hello@landmark717.com and we'll delete yours within 7 days.
  • Apple Push Notification device tokens are kept while you have the app installed and push enabled. They're cleared when you uninstall the App or turn off push notifications in iOS Settings, and Apple periodically reports stale tokens to us so we can remove them.
  • One-time verification codes are deleted within 10 minutes of being issued, whether or not you use them.
  • TelemetryDeck signals are retained per TelemetryDeck's own retention policy, with no user identifiers attached.
  • Terms of Use acceptance receipts are retained as part of our legal records, for as long as they may be needed to demonstrate that you accepted a specific version of our Terms — typically 7 years from the date of acceptance. Because these receipts are the audit artifact of your agreement, we don't honor deletion requests for them; this is permitted under CCPA §1798.105(d) and GDPR Art. 17(3)(e), which allow retention for compliance and defense of legal claims.

We don't keep backups of any of this data beyond the operational needs of the systems that hold it.

7. Open source

The Apps are open source. You can read the code yourself to check our claims. Source links are available in each App's Settings page.

8. Children's privacy

We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because we collect almost no personal information from anyone, there's essentially nothing for us to know about minors either.

9. Third-party services

The Apps connect to third-party services for content (audio streams, weather data, etc.) and to TelemetryDeck for the anonymized analytics described in §4. Those services have their own privacy policies and terms. We are not responsible for what they do with your connections to them. Angeles Intel. additionally references public data sources — National Weather Service, U.S. Forest Service — which don't require accounts and don't receive any identifying information from us.

10. Data security

For the things we don't store, there's nothing to lose in a security incident. For the things we do (agency emails, APN tokens, Terms of Use acceptance receipts), they live in AWS under standard access controls and are encrypted at rest. Locally-stored credentials on your device are protected by iOS's app sandboxing.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected with a new effective date at the top, and any substantive change will be summarized briefly here. Continued use of an App after a change means you accept the revised policy.

May 8, 2026: added §3 disclosure of Terms of Use acceptance receipts (effective with v1.3 of Angeles Intel.).

12. Your rights

  • Remove your agency-verified email: email hello@landmark717.com
  • Stop sending us your APN token: turn off push notifications for the App in iOS Settings, or uninstall the App
  • Remove locally stored credentials: delete them in the App, or uninstall the App

Because we collect so little, there's not much else for us to provide, correct, or delete. If you think we have something we shouldn't, please reach out.

13. Contact us

For privacy questions, email hello@landmark717.com. You can also contact us through the App's listing on the Apple App Store, but email is the fastest path for anything specific to your data.
